Step-by-Step Setup
Wi-Fi Router Setup Guide
A standard Wi-Fi router connects your local devices to the internet. Setting it up correctly ensures fast speeds, long range, and maximum security for all connected clients.
1
Physical Cable Connection
Connect the WAN/Internet port (usually color-coded yellow or blue) of your router to the LAN port on your modem using a Cat6 Ethernet cable.
2
Access Router Gateway Dashboard
Connect to the router's default Wi-Fi name (SSID), open a web browser, and navigate to http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net.
3
Change Default Admin Credentials
For security, replace the default password ("password" or "admin") with a strong, custom security password.
4
Configure Wireless Network
Set up custom Wi-Fi network names (SSID) and passwords. WPA3 or WPA2-AES encryption is recommended.
5
Select Clean Channels
In wireless settings, set the 2.4GHz band to channel 1, 6, or 11, and set 5GHz to Auto or a clear DFS channel to avoid local interference.
